[Turtlebot 2] can the publish frequency of infrared sensor messages be increased?

Hi all, I have a Turtlebot 2 (Kobuki base). I have change the IR sensors below the robot (I think they are called cliff sensors) to detect floor tiles to build a localization algorithm. It works but the frequency at which the state of the sensors is published is too low. Is it possible to increase this frequency? I searched through the FAQ but did not find anything related. I would appreciate any pointer. Regards.
