How to install moveit on ROS melodic

Hi, I am a newbie to ROS and I was just working with some sample examples.One of them uses the move it ros library.Since I am working on a Ubuntu(18) :ROS Melodic ,can anyone suggest me how to install moveit. Thanks Yours Sincerely Sparsh garg

MoveIt has not yet been released for Melodic: see ros/rosdistro#17942. A sudo apt-get install ros-melodic-moveit should work, but you'd need to use the shadow repositories.

However, the current consensus among maintainers is (from here):

It should NOT be expected to be stable yet. Maybe calling it "beta"?

I feel like crying as I really loved the various kinematic solvers anyways would you suggest I downgrade my ros version.Thanks for replying

Could anybody tell me if Moveit! is already available with melodic distro with a stable version? I believe so (!/ros/20... ) I am trying to install it and follow the tutorials but I am getting errors in the step of building catkin workspace.

But: yes, MoveIt has been released into ROS Melodic and is installable using apt-get. No need to build from sources.

I followed the regular tutorial and installed it with sudo apt install ros-melodic-moveit. But in the same tutorial there's a step to build a catkin workspace with cd ~/ws_moveit/src rosdep install -y --from-paths . --ignore-src --rosdistro kinetic and there's where I get the error

If you're referring to the Binary installation instructions (also called: the users install) then I don't see a catkin workspace mentioned there. Only on the Previous ROS Versions this is mentioned. Melodic is not a previous version of ROS.

Ok, so MoveIt is succesfully installed, it's other dependencies that may be failing.

I would recommend to open a new question for that, as it would seem to be a different problem.

Please include all relevant console error output in your new question.

And link to all tutorials you're following.
