Budget LIDAR Options for SLAM/HectorSLAM etc

Hi All,

I'm thinking about getting one of the cheaper LIDAR modules on the market at the moment. The couple I have in mind are:

http://www.robotshop.com/uk/rplidar-a2-360-laser-scanner.html

and

http://www.robotshop.com/uk/sweep-v1-360-laser-scanner.html?gclid=CJC4k86ChdECFRVmGwodsOsGrw

or

Has anyone used any of these with success?

I'm looking for something that will improve on my existing XTIon sensor

Thanks

Mark

I am very interested to know if this will work. I would be willing to help write a driver if necessary, but the bigger question is will the navigation stack work with such a driver?
