Feature Detection 2D Laser Scanner Data/Point Cloud

Hey,

I have a robot that is equipped with a 2D Laser Scanner. I have a node for transforming the sensormsgs/LaserScan into sensormsgs/PointCloud. Now I want to extract some features (like lines and circles) from that Point Cloud.

Are there any packages for feature detection?

I'm interested also in feature detection from 2D laser scanner data. Can anybody write some suggestions?
