Gmapping Tutorial Issue

I am new to ROS and I am trying to get the slamgmapping tutorial working with the example data file (basiclocalization_stage.bag)

I got till step 6.

The terminal that contains 'rosrun gmapping slamgmapping scan:=basescan odomframe:=odom_combined'
says "Registering First Scan. Killed"

and the terminal with 'rosbag play --clock...' is running forever. (The total duration is 1239670987) Is there anything I'm doing wrong?
