Ubuntu Saucy 13.10 package repository doesn't seem to have ros-indigo-* packages, although I do see other packages like python-rosinstall

I followed the Ubuntu 13.10 Indigo installation instructions

BUT

sudo apt-get install ros-indigo-desktop-full

Fails, and I can verify this by looking at this URL:

(NOTE: Not enough karma to paste this link in) < packages.ros.org > /ros/ubuntu/dists/trusty/main/binary-amd64/Packages

and seeing that it doesn't contain any packages that match ros-indigo-*

So am I missing something?

Indigo is in a very pre-alpha state right now, and debs have not been released yet. Beyond being unreleased, it look like desktop-full is not yet built.

You can track the built state of indigo here.

If you're really, really interested, the indigo debs that are built are available in the shadow repository.

It's the same for me. Ubuntu 13.10.

So I compile hydro from source.

The same problem I think on the wiki-pages : http://wiki.ros.org/indigo/Installati... the instructions stop athe the instruction : sudo apt-get install ros-indigo-desktop-full and : apt-cache search ros-indigo show that there are no files to install.

(using Ubuntu 16.10) which version works on this ?

That same page states that apt packages for Indigo are only available on Ubuntu 13.10 and 14.04, so you shouldn't expect to install Indigo on 16.10. REP-3 lists target Ubuntu versions for ROS, and there isn't an active release that supports 16.10

You may want to downgrade to the the long-term stable version of Ubuntu ( 16.04 ) and install ROS Kinetic through apt, or you can try to install ROS from source.
