Hi! I am working the a Natty 10.04 ubuntu on a PANDABOARD. I had trouble installing the desktop-full version and installed the full version instead

Now I see there are a LOT of stacks missing and as I understand - navigation (SLAM?) packages will be missing as well?

I do not want to go over the installation again 1. can I manually install missing stacks that exist in the "desktop-full" and not in the "full"?

  1. is that the only difference between the two - missing stacks? thanks in advance!

It sounds like you are installing from the Natty Ubuntu Debian package repository.

Yes, you should be able to install additional missing stacks without affecting those you already have. Each Debian package contains a ROS stack.

Actually, I've tried to use it and everything's at a halt. no roscd rosmake fails. opened the python, saw there was a problem creating a subprocess, but I have no idea why. checked my system variables for ROS_PATH, PYTHONPATH, everything's in place.

Is it becuse I've installed it straight to /home/ros ?

I'm currently reloading an image of the UBUNTU to my SD card - since "sudo apt-get remove ros-diamondbacl-ros" - failed too.

I want to follow "http://biomimetix.us/staticpages/index.php?page=PandaROSinstall" and do it clean - all over again, for the PANDABOARD. I am afraid of downloading the repository again, since it just halts the entier installation. I am really confused on how to avoid what has happend to me with it so far, an advice would be greatly appriciated. thank you in advance!

--- update --- after mounting the clean previous image of the natty ubuntu on my SD card, with a clean ROS install, I've installed the "desktop" version alone and everything went smooth! how do I know what is missing compare to the "desktop-full"?
