Not that this really answers you question directly, but I have never been able to get the Kinect working in a Linux VirtualBox under OSX 10.7 (Lion) as the host. Looking around trying to solve the problem, it appeared as though the USB drivers don't really support the Kinect. I hope you find a solution, but I don't think one exists.
