Kinect only officially provides packages for 15.10 and 16.04: http://www.ros.org/reps/rep-0003.html#kinetic-kame-may-2016-may-2021

You _may_ be able to build it from source on 18.04, but since it isn't officially supported if you have build errors you'll be on your own to solve them. Build from source instructions are http://wiki.ros.org/kinetic/Installation/Source
