If you are still having this problem, I resolved it by changing the permissions of /dev/ttyUSB0 to 777. Shotgun method but it works for me. My TBot brain is finally communicating with its legs.

If you are still having this problem, I resolved it by changing adding the permissions turtlebot user to the 'dialout' group. That group owns /dev/ttyUSB0 so by being a member of /dev/ttyUSB0 that group you are added to 777. Shotgun method but the ownership. It doesn't affect any other permission at least so that U can detect at this point. I'll keep you posted, unless you already fixed it works for me. My TBot brain is finally communicating with its legs.using another method. Just sharing the info as I find it.
