I think hector_slam requires a lidar scanner; not a camera.

A quick google search for "hector slam asus" turns up this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGUzG2srefI and http://daikimaekawa.github.io/ros/2014/04/03/HectorSLAM/ which strongly suggests that hector slam should work with an asus depth sensor.
