cd ~/catkin_ws/src
git clone https://github.com/WPI-RAIL/rail_manipulation_msgs.git
cd ..
catkin_make

cd ~/catkin_ws/src
git clone https://github.com/WPI-RAIL/rail_manipulation_msgs.git
cd ..
catkin_make


you will have to find and install all the required packages:

1. https://github.com/ros-controls/ros_control.git
2. https://github.com/ros-controls/realtime_tools.git

When I did it catkin failed because of ros_control package, but the jaco package worked. There is probably a better way where you don't have to install these packages into you catkin workspace but i didn't look to deep into the problem

you need to install packages that are missing. There will be couple of them but for rail manipulation it goes like this:

cd ~/catkin_ws/src
git clone https://github.com/WPI-RAIL/rail_manipulation_msgs.git
cd ..
catkin_make


and repeat for all the missing packages. Also note that I have jade distribution and you will have to find and install all the required packages:change it to whichever you have

1. https://github.com/ros-controls/ros_control.git
2. https://github.com/ros-controls/realtime_tools.git

also, it might happen you wont be able to install ros_control package using apt-get so you will have to download it in catkin_ws/src, you will also have to download realtime_tools package.
