I actually had a similar problem installing Diamondback on a fresh 10.10 install tonight as well. The fix for me was to do an aptitude update
followed by aptitude safe-upgrade
then aptitude install ros-diamondback-desktop-full
after rebooting (there was a kernel update so Ubuntu wanted to reboot after the package upgrade).
