Robot speed will not exceed 0.5 m/s despite max_vel_x is set to 1.0 in ROS2 navigation stack.

I am running ROS2 navigation stack on ROS2 Humble, ubuntu 22.04 where my robot is unable to move faster than 0.5 m/s despite changing the maxvelx values? do let me know if there is any additional information I need to provide. I want my robot to achieve speed of 1 m/s. Thank you very much in advance.
