error when install ROS

Dear all, i'd like to install ros-electric-desktop-full on my ubuntu10.04. i've followed the instructions from http://www.ros.org/wiki/electric/Installation/Ubuntu. but when i do step 1.4, sudo apt-get update, i get an error saying "cannot download http://packages.ros.org/ros/ubuntu/dists/lucid/main/binary-i386/Packages.bz2". i've checked the website http://packages.ros.org/ros/ubuntu/dists/lucid/main/binary-i386. indeed it doesn't contain the file Package.bz2. instead, it contains the file Packages.gz. so what shall i do now? Thanks so much for any suggestions!

p.s. i've installed diamondback successfully about one year ago. this time i want to install electric. i thought i would be easy. but in fact i'm stuck here for about one whole day.

Out of curiosity, why are you working with out-of-date versions of Ubuntu and ROS? Is there some particular reason you aren't installing Fuerte?

@Mac: No particular reasons. just worry about the compatibility between the newest ROS and some non-official stacks. anyway, i will try the latest ROS tomorrow

Ubuntu 10.04 is still supported by Fuerte (but it will not be in the forthcoming Groovy release).
