Can I run navigation stack without AMCL?

I want to use only wheel odometry for my robot position, is AMCL obligatory or can I not use it?

Answers

You don't have to do anything. But if you don't use some kind of Global Localization, your wheel-based odometry is almost certainly going to drift over time.
