Is it possible to build just the boundary using the closed path traversed by the robot?

I want to move the robot using turtlebot_teleop in a closed path and store the points to form a boundary . I don't want to map the environment of the robot completely. I just want create a boundary so that the robot stays within the boundary.

Can anybody guide me in the right direction?
