I have RVIZ up and running on my mac, but I have no idea how one goes about controlling a turtlebot through it... Anybody dealt with this?

Do you have a turtlebot moving at all from OS X? That's the first step.
Did you read the tutorials for turtlebot to get an idea of how to control it?
Well, the issue is that I can't get the navigation tools to run. In Linux, I am use to the presence of a navigation tools bar on the top of the screen. You know, "Pose Estimate", "Goal Pose", etc. These buttons are not there in the RVIZ I have installed on my mac.
You can send messages directly to the appropriate topics (that's all the rviz buttons do).
