cannot send messages to gazebo

Hii, I am new to ros and trying to control the joint positions of robot using a python node. I cannot send messages to gazebo. when I view nodes in rqt_graph I see all independent nodes none are connected. Please can I know what I am missing.. I followed rrrbot tutorial. Thank you.
