Teleop - conflict between wifi connection to router and Ethernet LIDAR connection - how can we solve this?

Hello,

We have a mobile robot right now and are running into a seemingly basic issue. Specifically, the robot is running off of a Lenovo Laptop, which is connected via Ethernet to a LIDAR scanner. We want to Teleop the robot over a wifi connection via a router to another Laptop, but then we run into conflicts with using both WIFI and Ethernet simultaneously.

Is there a best practice for this problem?

What kind of conflicts are you facing exactly?

We are trying to teleop over wifi. Our Laptop on our rover has a connection to the LIDAR over Ethernet. It also can connect to the WIFI network. However, it cannot do both of those things simultaneously. So, it gets a wifi connection, or the LIDAR feed, but can't take in both.

Here's a similar situation with a wired camera https://askubuntu.com/questions/652335/access-wired-network-cameras-through-a-switch-without-disconnecting-from-wirel

I closed this because this isn't ROS-related but rather a hardware issue. With so many questions on the site we try to keep them ROS-related.
