Import kinect libraries in ROS

I have tried 2 procedures installing kinect libraries on by Ubuntu 14.04. One being installing Libfreenect2.

I couldn't import freenect2......

Unfortunately, everything went in vain. Each time I used to get one or the other error. After that I have installed ROS Indigo which seems very flexible for kinect.

I need help regarding interfacing Kinect with ROS Indigo. What I need is the Depth Image and IR Image from Kinect so that I could get stuff programmed in Python. Is there any necessity that I download extra libraries for Kinect in Indigo (If any please mention it).

Other than ROS is there any procedures which I could follow to get these things done.
