fuse imu and lidar in hector slam

Hi, I run hector slam successfully, and get the map using the bagfile. But I do not know how to use it on my robot, because I found that in bagfile, there is a /tf topic exist. But where is the /tf topic comes from? And what is the relation between this /tf topic with imu data? Any idea? A tutorial will be great, thanks.
