Laser scan matcher with point cloud as input

Hi, did anyone of you guys ever work on laser scan matcher package with point cloud directly as input? I am learning this package, so I bring up a turtlebot with kinect and a laser scan matcher to do pose estimation. But until now, it never gives me any pose estimation. Any idea?
