Is it possible to setup a wireless network without an internet connection (Novice)

Hi guys,

Is it possible to setup a wireless network without an internet connection , I have been using my ISPs default router but it is sub par - only getting 72 Mbps on 802.11n over Wifi.Would I get better performance by using a better router with no internet connection. I am transmitting data from the robot to my laptop over WiFi (laptop is connected to the router with Ethernet cable ). I need at least 100 Mbps. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

This is ROS community, Robot Operating System. Please find somewhere else that is more appropriate for your topic, unless you're asking about ROS.

Yes, a standalone wifi router works just fine between a robot and a laptop. 100 Megs, though? Is that really necessary?

You can also do ad-hoc WiFi networking between two endpoints without a WiFi router in between, but this is less useful and harder to set up than having a cheap WiFi router like a tiny little TP-Link pocket-sized router:
