What nodes should I use when setting up a robot for the first time?

Please help in writing up a ROS best practice.

Im not sure what type of opinions you are looking for. But I will start by stating that besides the obvious base nodes for configuring the encoders sensors and cameras. I think that the teleop, navagation, calibration nodes might be a good start. Not sure if this is what your looking for.. :(
